Aiden meaning
Aiden is an international and Christian boy's name of Irish origin.
Little fire: Irish Áedán, a diminutive of áed, "fire"
Also used to mean: fiery one
Aiden is a modern spelling of the Irish name Aidan, in Old Irish Áedán. It is a pet form of Áed, an old Irish name that is also the ordinary word for fire: the Electronic Dictionary of the Irish Language records áed as fire and, figuratively, as the pupil of the eye. With the diminutive ending -án, the name means "little fire". Its best-known early bearer is Saint Aidan, an Irish monk of Iona who became the first bishop of Lindisfarne and died in 651. The two-syllable sound, AY-dun, is easy in every Indian language, though families should expect both Aiden and Aidan spellings.
