Cameron meaning
Cameron is an international boy's name of Scottish Gaelic origin.
Crooked or hooked nose: Gaelic camshron
Also used to mean: crooked nose
Cameron is the name of a Scottish Highland clan. The Online Etymology Dictionary traces it to Gaelic camshron, "wry or hooked nose", from cam, "crooked", and sròn, "nose", probably first a nickname for a forebear; the Lowland family of the same name takes it from a place in Fife. The neighbouring clan name Campbell is built the same way, from "crooked mouth". As with many clan names, the literal meaning is rarely in mind today, and Cameron is now also a first name. It is easy to say, and the short form Cam is friendly.
