Heber meaning
Heber is a Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin.
Community, association; a Kenite and three Israelites
Also used to mean: companion, partner, fellowship
Heber is the Hebrew name Cheber. Strong's Concordance (H2268) explains it as the same word as cheber, "community" or "association", from a verb meaning to join together, and name lists render it "companion" or "partner" in the same spirit. In the Bible it belongs to Heber the Kenite, whose wife Jael is praised in the Song of Deborah, and to men of the tribes of Asher, Judah and Benjamin. In India the name also recalls Reginald Heber, the hymn writer and Bishop of Calcutta who died at Tiruchirappalli in 1826, and it is found among Protestant families in South India.
