Pukui and Elbert's Hawaiian Dictionary gives lani as the sky or heavens, with the senses heavenly and spiritual, and also as a very high chief or majesty, a sense common in Hawaiian personal names such as Leilani. Name lists give Kehlani as "heavenly" or "sky"; some say "sea and sky", which we could not confirm. The spelling with h is not Hawaiian. It is said keh-LAA-nee, which comes easily to Indian speakers.
