Aanya meaning
Aanya (आन्या) is a Hindu girl's name.
Meaning today
Inexhaustible, gracious
In the dictionaries
The name isn't in the classical dictionaries we use, so it is most likely a modern name. The meaning above is how families commonly use it.
Aanya (आन्या) is a modern girls' name used in India and across the Indian diaspora. On Indian baby-name lists it is usually explained as "inexhaustible", with "gracious" as a second sense. We could not trace either meaning to a dictionary: neither Monier-Williams nor Apte has a Sanskrit word ānyā, so these appear to be meanings that have grown up around the name rather than the sense of an older word. Aanya should not be confused with Ananya (अनन्या), a genuine Sanskrit word meaning "no other, unique". It also sounds like Anya, the Russian pet form of Anna, but we have found no evidence that the Indian name comes from it, so parents can treat it as a fresh, modern name.
