Also used to mean: ascent, progress
Arohan (आरोहण) is Sanskrit ārohaṇa, from the verb ruh, "to climb, to grow", with ā-. Monier-Williams gives rising and ascending, the act of climbing, a ladder or staircase, a raised stage for dancing, and the rising of new shoots in plants. It shares its root with Aaroh, and in Indian music both words are used for the ascending scale of a raga. Baby-name lists give Arohan as "rising", "ascent" or "progress"; the first two are the dictionary sense and "progress" is a natural extension of it.
