Cajetan meaning

Cajetan is a Christian boy's name of Latin origin (Goan usage).

Of Caieta (Gaeta), a town and harbour in Latium

Also used to mean: from Gaeta

Cajetan is the English and Latin-derived form of Caietanus, 'of Caieta', the old name of Gaeta, a harbour town between Rome and Naples. Lewis & Short note that Virgil named the place after Caieta, the nurse of Aeneas. The name honours St Cajetan (1480–1547), co-founder of the Theatine order. Theatine priests reached Goa in 1640 and built the Church of St Cajetan in Old Goa, now part of a World Heritage Site, and the name has been used by Goan and Mangalorean Catholics ever since, often in the Portuguese form Caetano.
