Rex meaning
Rex is a Christian and international boy's name of Latin origin.
Ruler, king
Rex is the Latin word for 'king'. Lewis & Short define rex as a ruler or king and show it used of Jupiter as king of gods and men; in republican Rome it could even mean a tyrant, and it was also kept as a title for certain priests. The Romans used Rex as a family surname, as in Quintus Marcius Rex. For Christians the word belongs to the title Christus Rex, Christ the King, celebrated on the last Sunday of the Church year. Rex is also used in Indian Christian families.
