Eden meaning
Eden is an international and Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin, also used for boys.
Eden, the land of Adam's garden; the same as ʿeden, 'delight'
Also used to mean: paradise
Eden is the garden in Genesis where Adam and Eve first lived. Strong's concordance gives the Hebrew ʿEden as the region of Adam's home and connects it with the word ʿeden, "pleasure" or "delight", which the Brown-Driver-Briggs lexicon glosses as luxury and delight; the lexicon adds that Hebrew speakers probably heard the place name that way. Over time Eden came to stand for paradise itself, which is why name lists give "delight" or "paradise". It is used for both girls and boys, and it is easy to say with any Indian surname.
