Finley meaning
Finley is an international boy's name of Scottish Gaelic origin.
Fair warrior: fionn "white, fair" + laoch "warrior, hero"
Also used to mean: fair-haired warrior, fair hero
Finley is an English spelling of the Scottish Gaelic name Fionnlagh, also written Finlay. It is made of two old Gaelic words. The first, fionn (Old Irish find), is recorded in the Electronic Dictionary of the Irish Language as white, bright or lustrous, and also blessed, fair and just; the second, laoch (Old Irish láech), first meant a layman and later a warrior, and appears in heroic names. Together they give "fair warrior" or "bright hero". The name was used by Scottish clans for centuries before becoming a first name. For Indian families it is easy to say and pairs well with Indian surnames.
