Jared meaning
Jared is a Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin.
A descent; from yarad 'to go down'
Also used to mean: one who descends
Jared is the Hebrew Yered. Strong's Concordance (H3382) derives it from yarad, "to go down", and explains it as "a descent"; the same verb gives the name of the river Jordan, "the descender". In Genesis 5 Jared is one of the patriarchs before the Flood, the son of Mahalalel and the father of Enoch, who "walked with God", and he is said to have lived 962 years. The name is also listed in the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3:37. It is a biblical name, used by Christian families in India.
