Aadhirai meaning
Aadhirai (ஆதிரை) is a Tamil girl's name.
The sixth lunar mansion, Ārdrā (Tiruvathirai)
Also used to mean: a special star
Aadhirai (ஆதிரை) is the Tamil name of the star Ārdrā, the sixth of the twenty-seven lunar mansions, better known in Tamil as Tiruvathirai. The Tamil Lexicon gives exactly that sense, and Monier-Williams lists ārdrā as a lunar mansion, from ārdra, "moist, fresh, tender". The star is sacred to Shiva: the Arudra Darshanam festival for Nataraja falls on Tiruvathirai in the month of Margazhi. In the Tamil epic Manimekalai, Ātirai is the faithful wife from whom Manimekalai receives the first alms for her wonder-bowl. Name lists simply call it "a special star".
