Aathira meaning
Aathira (ஆதிரா) is a Tamil and Hindu girl's name of Tamil and Malayalam origin (from Sanskrit ārdrā).
The sixth lunar mansion (nakshatra), Tamil ātirai, Sanskrit ārdrā
Also used to mean: star
Aathira (ஆதிரா) is the name of a star. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras gives ātirai as the sixth of the twenty-seven nakṣatras, the lunar mansions of Indian astronomy, derives it from Sanskrit ārdrā, and refers the reader to tiruvātirai, the same star with the honorific tiru-. The star gives its name to the festival of Tiruvātirai, kept in Kerala as Thiruvathira and in Tamil Nadu as Ārudrā Darśanam, when Śiva is worshipped as Naṭarāja, the cosmic dancer. Name lists give "star", in line with this; other glosses seen online, such as "lightning" or "prayer", are not in the Lexicon. It is a girls' name used in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
