Taramati meaning
Taramati (तारामती) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Marathi usage). By its first sound, ता, it is a Tula rashi name (Swati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Name of King Harishchandra's queen; from tārā, 'star'
Also used to mean: wife of king harishchandra
Taramati (तारामती) is best known as the queen of King Hariścandra of Ayodhyā, the king famed for never breaking his word. In the Sanskrit Purāṇas she is called Śaivyā, but in Marathi devotional retellings and later plays and films she is Taramati. Through all the trials of the story she stays beside her husband, even after the death of their son Rohitāśva. The name itself is built on Sanskrit tārā, which Monier-Williams gives as "a fixed star", with the ending -matī, "possessing". Name lists simply describe her as Harishchandra's wife.
