Nakshatra meaning
Nakshatra (नक्षत्र) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A star or heavenly body; a lunar mansion; a pearl
Nakshatra (नक्षत्र) is the Sanskrit word for a star or any heavenly body, and in Indian astronomy it names the 27 (later 28) lunar mansions, the star groups the moon passes through each month. Monier-Williams also gives the rarer sense of a pearl. Hindu families still use a child's birth nakṣatra to choose the first sound of the name. Name lists give Nakshatra as "star", matching the dictionary. It is used mostly for girls, and sometimes for boys.
