Revati meaning
Revati (रेवती) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रे, it is a Tula rashi name (Swati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The lunar asterism Revati; wife of Balarama
Revati (रेवती) is the feminine of Sanskrit revat, "wealthy, prosperous, abundant" and also "brilliant, splendid". In the Rig Veda revatī is used of cows and waters as "the wealthy" or "the shining ones". Monier-Williams lists Revatī as the name of a nakshatra, or lunar mansion, already in the Rig Veda, and of a musical rāgiṇī. In the Harivaṃśa and the Purāṇas, Revatī is the daughter of King Kakudmin and the wife of Balarāma, Krishna's elder brother; she also appears in Kālidāsa's Meghadūta. The name is used by Hindu families across India, and Revathi and Revathy are the usual South Indian spellings.
