Chitra meaning
Chitra (चित्रा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The lunar mansion Citrā (Spica)
Also used to mean: picture, bright
Chitra (चित्रा) is the feminine form of Sanskrit citra. As an adjective Monier-Williams gives citra as "bright, clear, bright-coloured", "variegated, spotted" and "strange, wonderful"; as a neuter noun it is anything bright that strikes the eye, a brilliant ornament, and "a picture, sketch, delineation", the sense still current in Hindi. The feminine Citrā is also the name of a lunar mansion, the twelfth in the old lists and the fourteenth in the later ones, identified with the bright star Spica. Monier-Williams also records Citrā as the name of an Apsaras, of a river and of a musical instrument. Name lists give Chitra as "picture" or "bright", with the nakshatra as a further sense. Chithra is the usual spelling in South India.
