Tilottama meaning
Tilottama (तिलोत्तमा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Name of an Apsaras (celestial nymph) in the Mahābhārata
Also used to mean: best of all
Tilottama (तिलोत्तमा) is the name of one of the best-known Apsarases, the celestial nymphs of Hindu tradition. The name joins Sanskrit tila, "sesame seed" and so "a tiny particle", with uttama, "best, highest". In the Mahābhārata's first book, Brahmā has the divine architect Viśvakarman shape her from the finest particles of everything in the three worlds, and she is sent to the demon brothers Sunda and Upasunda, who fight over her and destroy each other. Name lists give Tilottama as "apsara" or "best of all", both drawn from this story.
