Dharti meaning
Dharti (धरती) is a Hindu girl's name of Hindi origin (from Sanskrit dharitrī).
The earth; ground, land, soil
Also used to mean: mother earth
Dharti (धरती) is the everyday Hindi word for the earth. Platts' dictionary gives dhartī as the earth and as ground, land and soil, and traces it through Prakrit to Sanskrit dharitrī, which Monier-Williams records as "a female bearer or supporter" and "the earth", from dhṛ, "to bear". The phrase dhartī mātā, "mother earth", is common in Hindi, and the word appears in many film and song titles. Name lists give "earth" or "mother earth". As a girls' name it is used mainly in Gujarat and North India; the Sanskrit form Dharitri is a separate name.
