Bhumija meaning
Bhumija (भूमिजा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, भू, it is a Dhanu rashi name (Purva Ashadha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Earth-born; a name of Sita
Bhumija (भूमिजा) means "born of the earth", from Sanskrit bhūmi, "earth", and ja, "born". Monier-Williams gives bhūmija as "produced from the earth, sprung from the ground" and records the feminine bhūmijā as a name of Sita. In the Ramayana, King Janaka finds the infant Sita in a furrow while ploughing a field, so she is called the daughter of the earth; at the end of her story the earth takes her back. Name lists give the same meaning, earth-born or Sita. Bhoomija is another spelling.
