Bhuvi (भुवि) is a short modern name. In Sanskrit, bhuvi is the locative case of bhū, "the earth", meaning "on the earth", and Monier-Williams lists it only in that sense, as the first part of compounds. Baby-name lists give Bhuvi as "heaven" or as "earth". The earth meaning follows the Sanskrit word; we could not find a dictionary source for "heaven", so that is best treated as a modern meaning. Some families also use Bhuvi as a short form of Bhuvaneshwari.
