Dhanvi (धन्वी) is a modern girls' name, and two explanations circulate. Name lists usually give "wealthy" or "prosperous", linking it with dhana, "wealth". In Sanskrit, however, dhanvī is the ordinary form of dhanvin, which Monier-Williams gives as armed with a bow, a bowman, from dhanvan, "a bow"; it is also an epithet of Śiva, Viṣṇu and Arjuna, and the zodiac sign Sagittarius. The dictionary therefore supports "archer" rather than "wealth", and the word is masculine in classical use. Families who choose the name today usually intend the "prosperity" sense.
