Dharani meaning
Dharani (धरणी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The earth, soil, ground
Also used to mean: mother earth
Dharani (धरणी) is the Sanskrit dharaṇī, "the earth, soil, ground", from the verb dhṛ, "to hold, bear, support": the earth is the one that bears all things. Monier-Williams cites it from the Mahabharata, classical poetry and the Purāṇas, and it is the root of words such as dharaṇīdhara, "earth-bearer", a name for mountains and for Viṣṇu. Name lists give "earth" or "mother earth", which matches the dictionary. Dharani should not be confused with Dharini, from dhāriṇī, "one who holds". The name is used across India, including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
