Achala meaning
Achala (अचला) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Immovable; (feminine) the earth
Achala (अचला) is the feminine of the Sanskrit adjective acala, from a-, "not", and cala, "moving", so its plain sense is immovable or steady. Monier-Williams records acalā as a word for the earth, and the masculine acala as a mountain or rock and a name of Shiva, both pictures of something that cannot be shaken. In Buddhist texts acalā is also one of the ten stages on the path to Buddhahood. Name lists give Achala as earth or steady, in line with the dictionary. The Hindi film actress Achala Sachdev carried the name.
