Vamika meaning
Vamika (वामिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, वा, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Rohini nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A name of the goddess Durgā
Vamika (वामिका) is Sanskrit vāmikā, which Monier-Williams records simply as a name of the goddess Durgā, citing only the dictionaries rather than a particular text. The same form is also the feminine of the adjective vāmaka, which MW glosses as "left", or adverse and harsh. Two neighbouring words are also worth knowing. MW lists one vāma meaning lovely, dear and beautiful, with vāmā as a beautiful woman and a form of Durgā, Lakṣmī or Sarasvatī, and a second vāma meaning left. Indian name lists give Vamika as a name of Durgā, which matches the dictionary; other glosses on some lists, such as "most beautiful", we could not confirm for vāmikā itself.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
