Raksha meaning
Raksha (रक्षा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Protection, guarding, care; an amulet or protective wrist-thread
Raksha (रक्षा) is the Sanskrit feminine noun rakṣā, from the root rakṣ, "to guard, to protect". Monier-Williams lists protection, guarding, care and security first, then a guard or watch, an amulet or charm, a guardian deity, and the thread or silk band tied round the wrist at the full moon of Śrāvaṇa as a mark of protection and respect. That last sense survives in Raksha Bandhan, the festival of the protective thread. Name lists give Raksha as "protection", the same as the dictionary.
