Raka meaning
Raka (राका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रा, it is a Tula rashi name (Chitra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The day of the full moon; its presiding goddess
Also used to mean: full-moon night
Raka (राका) is the Sanskrit word for the day of the full moon, used from the Rigveda onwards. Monier-Williams adds that Rākā is the goddess who presides over the full-moon day and is regarded as the full moon's consort, while a sister goddess, Anumati, rules the day before. Several women in the Puranas bear the name, including daughters of the sage Aṅgiras. Name lists give Raka as "full moon" or "full-moon night", matching the dictionary. Purnima and Raka share the same meaning.
