Akshi meaning
Akshi (अक्षी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The eye
Akshi (अक्षी) comes from the Sanskrit noun akṣi, "eye", one of the oldest words in the language. Monier-Williams notes that in the dual, "the two eyes", it can stand for the sun and the moon, as in a hymn of the Rig Veda, and that it is used as a symbol for the number two. The same word ends many familiar names of the goddess, such as Meenakshi, "fish-eyed", and Kamakshi. As a short modern name, Akshi is usually explained simply as "eye" or "vision", which matches the dictionary.
