Devasena meaning
Devasena (देवसेना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A host of celestials; personified as the wife of Skanda
Also used to mean: army of the gods, consort of Murugan
Devasena (देवसेना) is the Sanskrit deva-senā, from deva, "god", and senā, "army". Monier-Williams gives it as a host of celestials, a phrase found as early as the Rigveda, and records the personified Devasenā, a daughter of Prajāpati or niece of Indra, as the wife of Skanda, the war god also called Kārttikeya and Murugan. Because Skanda led the gods' army and married Devasenā, he is called Devasenāpati. In Tamil tradition she is Deivanai. Name lists give "army of the gods" or "consort of Murugan". The name also reached a wider audience through the queen Devasena in the Baahubali films.
