Nandita meaning
Nandita (नन्दिता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Gladdened, delighted (from nand, "to rejoice")
Nandita (नन्दिता) comes from the Sanskrit root nand, which Monier-Williams gives as to rejoice, to be delighted, to be pleased or satisfied; its causative, nandayati, means to gladden. Nandita is the past participle of that causative, "gladdened, delighted", a regular formation even though the dictionaries do not list it as a separate word. The same root gives nanda, joy, the name of Krishna's foster-father Nanda, and the names Nandini and Ananda. Name lists give "happy" or "delighted", which agree with the root. Nanditha is a South Indian spelling.
