Bhagwati meaning
Bhagwati (भगवती) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The divine or adorable one; a name of Lakshmi and of Durga
Also used to mean: goddess, goddess durga
Bhagwati (भगवती) is Sanskrit bhagavatī, the feminine of bhagavat, the same word as Bhagwan. Monier-Williams gives bhagavat as "fortunate, prosperous" and "glorious, divine, adorable", a term of address for gods and saints, and records bhagavatī as a name of Lakshmi and of Durga. It goes back to bhaga, "good fortune". In everyday use Bhagwati simply means the Goddess, and in Kerala the mother goddess of many temples is called Bhagavathi. The name is used in North India and Nepal, often with Devi after it.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
