Kamaljeet meaning
Kamaljeet (ਕਮਲਜੀਤ) is a Sikh and Hindu unisex name of Punjabi origin (from Sanskrit), used for both girls and boys.
Kamal (lotus) joined with jīt (victory)
Also used to mean: victory of the lotus
Kamaljeet (ਕਮਲਜੀਤ) joins kamal, the lotus, with jīt, victory. The Mahan Kosh gives kamal as the lotus, the flower "born in water", and also lists water and Kamla, a name of Lakshmi. In Sikh scripture the lotus is a familiar image of a life lived purely in the world: in Guru Nanak's Sidh Gosht the lotus floats on the water yet stays untouched by it (Ang 938). Jīt, from Sanskrit jita, means victory or conquest, as in Amarjeet and Inderjeet. Name lists usually render the whole as "victory of the lotus". The name is used for both boys and girls, in Sikh and Hindu families alike, and is also spelt Kamaljit.
