Padma meaning
Padma (पद्मा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lotus; as padmā, a name of Lakshmi
Padma (पद्मा) is one of the oldest Sanskrit words for the lotus. Monier-Williams gives padma as the lotus flower and also as one of the nine treasures of Kubera, the god of wealth. The feminine padmā, "the lotus-hued one", is a name of Śrī or Lakshmi, the goddess who sits and stands on a lotus, and the dictionary also lists it for a serpent goddess identified with Manasā and for a wife of Kalki. The same word gives India's Padma civilian honours their name. Padma has long been used across India, from Hindi to Telugu and Kannada families.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Lakshmi.
