Prajakta meaning
Prajakta (प्राजक्ता) is a Hindu girl's name of Marathi origin (from Sanskrit pārijāta).
The pārijāta, a heavenly tree with small fragrant flowers
Also used to mean: night-flowering jasmine
Prajakta (प्राजक्ता) comes from prājakta, the everyday Marathi form of Sanskrit pārijāta. Date's Maharashtra Shabdakosh lists prājakta as a synonym of pārijāta, one of the five trees of heaven, known for small, delicate and fragrant flowers. In Maharashtra the name is given to the night-flowering jasmine, whose white flowers with orange stems open after dark and fall by morning. In Puranic myth the pārijāta rose from the churning of the ocean, and Krishna carried it off from Indra. Monier-Williams identifies the Sanskrit pārijāta as the coral tree, so the plant meant has shifted over time. A well-known bearer is the YouTuber and actress Prajakta Koli.
