Kamakshi meaning
Kamakshi (कामाक्षी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, का, it is a Mithun rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A form of the goddess Durgā
Also used to mean: one with loving eyes
Kamakshi (कामाक्षी) is Sanskrit kāmākṣī, a compound of kāma, desire or love, and akṣi, eye. Monier-Williams records it as a form of the goddess Durgā and as the name of a district in Assam sacred to her. Name lists usually render it 'one with loving eyes', which follows the two parts of the compound, though the dictionary treats the word as the goddess's name rather than as a description. The goddess Kamakshi is especially honoured in the south, above all at the Kamakshi Amman temple in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, where she is the presiding deity. In Tamil the name is often written Kamatchi, and families in Tamil Nadu and Kerala use both spellings.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
