Shailaja meaning
Shailaja (शैलजा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Mountain-born; a name of Durgā (Pārvatī)
Also used to mean: daughter of the mountain, parvati
Shailaja (शैलजा) is the Sanskrit śailajā, "mountain-born", from śaila, "mountain", and ja, "born". Monier-Williams records it as a name of Durgā. The mountain is the Himālaya, personified as Himavat, whose daughter Pārvatī is also called Śailaputrī, "daughter of the mountain", and is worshipped under that name on the first day of Navarātri. Name lists give Shailaja as "daughter of the mountain" or simply "Pārvatī", which matches the dictionary. The name is used across India; North Indian families often shorten the spelling to Shailja, and in Andhra Pradesh it is written Sailaja.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
