Shanti meaning
Shanti (शान्ति) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Tranquillity, peace, calmness of mind; welfare, prosperity, bliss
Also used to mean: tranquility
Shanti (शान्ति) is the Sanskrit word śānti, from the verb śam, "to be quiet, to be calm". Monier-Williams gives tranquillity, peace, quiet and calmness of mind; the easing of pain or evil; a rite to avert misfortune; and peace in the wider sense of welfare, prosperity, ease and bliss. In the Purāṇas Śānti is personified as a daughter of Śraddhā, or of Dakṣa and wife of Dharma. Many Hindu prayers end with "Om śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ". Name lists give Shanti as "peace" or "tranquillity", the dictionary meaning. In South India it is often spelled Shanthi.
