Mukta meaning
Mukta (मुक्ता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A pearl; set free, liberated
Mukta (मुक्ता) is the Sanskrit muktā, a pearl, as taken from the pearl-oyster. It is the feminine of mukta, which Monier-Williams glosses as loosened, set free, and liberated from sin or worldly existence, so the pearl is in a sense the gem "released" from its shell. The dictionary also records Muktā as the name of a river. Name lists give pearl or liberated, both from the dictionary. In Maharashtra the name is linked to Sant Muktabai, the thirteenth-century saint-poet and sister of Dnyaneshwar. Muktha is the usual South Indian spelling.
