Charushila meaning
Charushila (चारुशीला) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, चा, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Of lovely character: cāru, lovely, + śīla, character, conduct
Also used to mean: beautiful jewel, beautiful woman
Charushila (चारुशीला) joins Sanskrit cāru, "lovely, beautiful, dear", with śīla, "character, nature" and especially good conduct and virtue, so it describes a woman of lovely character. Monier-Williams lists both words, and separately records cāru-śilā, spelt with a short i, literally "beautiful stone", meaning a jewel. That second word explains why baby-name lists give the name as "beautiful jewel" as well as "beautiful woman". Both readings are sound; the long-ī spelling Charushila points to character. The name is used in Maharashtra, where it is also spelt Charusheela.
