Chandramukhi meaning
Chandramukhi (चंद्रमुखी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Moon-faced (= candra-vadanā); name of a celestial nymph
Chandramukhi (चंद्रमुखी) means "moon-faced", from candra, "moon", and mukha, "face". In Sanskrit poetry a face like the full moon is a classic image of beauty, and Monier-Williams gives candra-mukhī as the same as candra-vadanā, "moon-faced", and as the name of a celestial nymph. Baby-name lists give the name the same meaning. Chandramukhi is famous in Indian fiction as the courtesan with a generous heart in Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel Devdas, and as the title of the 2005 Tamil film starring Rajinikanth.
