Chandralekha meaning
Chandralekha (चंद्रलेखा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A digit or streak of the moon, the crescent
Also used to mean: moon-streak, moonlight
Chandralekha (चंद्रलेखा) joins candra, "moon", and lekhā, "a line, a streak". Monier-Williams gives candra-lekhā as "a digit of the moon", the thin streak of the crescent, and also as two Sanskrit metres and the name of several women, among them the princess whom the eleventh-century poet Bilhana tutored. Baby-name lists give it as "moon-streak" or "moonlight". In modern India the name is famous from S. S. Vasan's 1948 Tamil film Chandralekha and the dancer-choreographer Chandralekha.
