Saumya meaning
Saumya (सौम्या) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin, also used for boys, often spelled Soumya.
Relating to Soma; moon-like, gentle, mild; pleasant, auspicious
Saumya (सौम्या) is the feminine of Sanskrit saumya, "belonging to Soma", the sacred drink and also the moon. Monier-Williams gives the literal senses of relating to Soma and resembling the moon, cool and moist rather than hot and dry, and from those the qualities the name carries: placid, gentle, mild, pleasant and auspicious. The word was also a courteous form of address, especially to a Brahmin. The feminine Saumyā is a name of the goddess Durgā and of the five stars in the head of Orion. Name lists give "gentle" or "soft", matching the dictionary. In eastern India the name is also given to boys, spelled Soumya.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
