Chandrakanta meaning
Chandrakanta (चंद्रकांता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The wife of the moon; night; name of a celestial nymph
Also used to mean: beloved of the moon
Chandrakanta (चंद्रकांता) is the feminine of Sanskrit candra-kānta, "lovely as the moon" or "loved by the moon", the word that also names the moonstone, a gem said to form from congealed moonbeams. Monier-Williams gives candra-kāntā as the wife of the moon, as the night, and as the name of a celestial nymph. Baby-name lists give it as "wife of the moon" or "beloved of the moon". The name is famous from Devaki Nandan Khatri's 1888 Hindi novel Chandrakanta, whose heroine is a princess, later adapted for television.
