Vani meaning
Vani (वाणी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, वा, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Rohini nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Speech, voice, music; eloquence; the goddess Sarasvatī
Vani (वाणी) is Sanskrit vāṇī, which Monier-Williams gives as sound, voice, music, speech and eloquence, and also as a literary composition and as praise. Because Sarasvatī is the goddess of speech and learning, Vāṇī is one of her names, and MW also lists it as the name of a river that some identify with the Sarasvatī. In Hindi and many other Indian languages vāṇī is still the ordinary word for speech, and the Punjabi bāṇī of Gurbani, the Guru's word, comes from it. Indian name lists give Vani as speech or voice and as a name of Sarasvatī, matching the dictionary. A celebrated bearer was the playback singer Vani Jairam, who recorded songs in many Indian languages and died in 2023.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Saraswati.
