Harshdeep meaning
Harshdeep (ਹਰਸ਼ਦੀਪ) is a Sikh and Hindu unisex name of Punjabi origin (from Sanskrit), used for both girls and boys.
Harṣ, joy and delight, joined with dīp, a lamp
Also used to mean: light of joy
Harshdeep (ਹਰਸ਼ਦੀਪ) joins harṣ, joy, with dīp, a lamp. The Mahan Kosh gives Sanskrit harṣa as joy, delight and happiness, and in the Guru Granth Sahib the same word appears in its Punjabi form harakh, for example on Ang 181. Dīp is a lamp, from a root meaning "to shine". The name therefore means a lamp of joy, and name lists give it as light of joy. Unlike Hardeep, its first part is not har, God. It is used for boys and girls, and is well known through the singer Harshdeep Kaur.
