Manjot meaning
Manjot (ਮਨਜੋਤ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin, used for both girls and boys.
Man (mind) joined with jot (light)
Manjot (ਮਨਜੋਤ) joins two words that run all through Sikh scripture. Man is the mind or inner self, which the Mahan Kosh of Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha also renders as the heart, from Sanskrit manas. Jot is light, and in Gurbani it often means the divine light present in every being: at Ang 13 of the Guru Granth Sahib the light within all is said to be that one light. Put together, the name reads "light of the mind", and name lists give much the same. The combined name is a modern compound rather than a phrase from the scripture itself. It is given to both boys and girls, usually followed by Singh or Kaur.
