Komal meaning
Komal (कोमल) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin, also used for boys. By its first sound, को, it is a Mithun rashi name (Punarvasu nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Tender, soft; sweet, pleasing, charming
Komal (कोमल) is Sanskrit komala, an adjective Monier-Williams glosses as tender, soft, sweet, pleasing and charming, contrasting it with karkaśa, harsh. As a neuter noun it can also mean water or silk. Platts's Hindustani dictionary adds delicate, gentle, mild and agreeable, as well as young or unripe, showing how the word kept its gentle range in Hindi. In Hindustani classical music komal names the flattened, or 'soft', form of the notes re, ga, dha and ni, so musicians hear the name as a soft note. Komal is used mainly for girls, though it is occasionally given to boys, and it is easy to spell in Indian and English scripts.
