Nagalakshmi meaning
Nagalakshmi (नागलक्ष्मी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, ना, it is a Vrishchik rashi name (Anuradha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A serpent goddess; nāga 'serpent' + lakṣmī 'fortune, the goddess Lakṣmī'
Nagalakshmi (नागलक्ष्मी) joins two Sanskrit words: nāga, a serpent or one of the serpent-deities who live in the waters and under the earth, and lakṣmī, good fortune, prosperity and beauty, and the name of the goddess Lakṣmī. In Vaiṣṇava tradition Nāgalakṣmī is a serpent goddess, the consort of Śeṣa, the great serpent on whom Viṣṇu rests. The name is used mainly in South India, especially in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil families, and is often shortened to Naga or Lakshmi.
