Bansari meaning
Bansari (बंसरी) is a Hindu girl's name of Hindi origin (from Sanskrit Gujarati usage).
A flute or pipe (Hindi baṅsrī = bāṅsrī, from Sanskrit vaṃśa, bamboo)
Also used to mean: krishna's flute
Bansari (बंसरी) is a form of the Hindi word for the bamboo flute, better known as bansuri. Platts' Hindi dictionary lists baṅsrī and bāṅsurī as "pipe, fife, flute" and traces them to Sanskrit vaṃśa, "bamboo". The flute is Krishna's instrument, and his music draws the cowherd girls of Vrindavan in the stories of the Bhagavata Purana, so the name has a devotional ring. Baby-name lists give it as "flute" or "Krishna's flute". Bansari is used mainly in Gujarat; Bansuri and Bansri are other spellings.
