The magpie robin of Bengal
Also used to mean: songbird
Doyel (দোয়েল) is the Bengali name of the oriental magpie-robin, a small black-and-white songbird found in gardens across Bengal. The Samsad Bengali–English Dictionary defines doyel simply as the magpie robin of Bengal. The bird is loved for its rich, varied song, especially at dawn, and it is the national bird of Bangladesh. As a girls' name Doyel is a Bengali name, gentle and close to nature, like other Bengali bird and flower names. A few English-language name sites give it as "dove", which is not correct.
